Muddy Teak

The Rooms

With just 4 guest rooms and only available for private-use bookings, Muddy Teak is in some senses the most exclusive camp in Hwange. Imagine having the camp to yourself and flexible and unfettered access to the incredible Camp Hwange concession with your own private guide and vehicle. Each large, beautifully appointed tent looks directly onto the natural waterhole after which the camp takes its somewhat eccentric name. Endless afternoon elephant processions out of the teak woodland to the waterhole can be enjoyed from your bed, or your outdoor shower. The resident lion pride are regular passersby and stately sable are elegant waterhole visitors as are the local impala herds.

The Main Area

The casual and homely lounge and dining area is set back in the shade of overhanging teak and ordeal trees and offers a cooling retreat during the day and an intimate gathering space for meals. Flowing out onto expansive decking creatively adapted to the existing trees, the main area is the hub of camp and intimately integrated into the pool and fire pit.

The Pool

A cooling reservoir-style pool integrated into the raised decking of the main area is the perfect escape during the heat of the summer days. Even better, it is entirely for the exclusive use of your group.

The Fire Pit

The location for the start and the end of your safari day … the fire pit is just the social magnet of any bush camp and at Muddy Teak is located in prime position off the front of the decking of the main area …  easily accessible after dinner for star and life contemplation, and at dawn for fire-browed coffee and toast.
